-DD: (nb) Joy Elisabeth StuartRaphael Stuart lives on Nat's estate. He's a farmer. He's Katherine's husband. Katherine was visiting Nat and Eira's estate when she met him. It was just by chance. She was sitting in a tree, camouflaged by the leaves and he was climbing the tree. He stepped on her hand. He apologized. She was smitten. She struck up a conversation. He invited her home for tea.
They dated for a year and got married in the winter. Becky was born only a couple months after the wedding, which didn't surprise anyone.
They have 4 children now: Becky, Rachel, Kaleb, and Joy.
When we last saw Gris, her execution was approaching, and her husband and his family were plotting to break her out.
At first they didn't know what to do. They considered building a tunnel, but it would take forever. They didn't have any better ideas, though, so they reluctantly set to work. (Eira, being pregnant, stayed home.)
But as soon as they had dug down, they saw that someone else had had the same idea and dug a tunnel already. It seemed like a long-term project; the tunnel was about as wide as a tall person lying down and big enough that they only had to duck a little.
The tunnel let out in the prison, but nowhere near Gris's cell. It was night and most of the guards were asleep. They wandered around the prison, looking for Gris, and had a few close calls with guards, but eventually found Gris without being noticed.
It dawned on them that they needed a key.
Katherine turned out to be a surprisingly competent thief. She snuck up on a guard, and punched him in the nose, knocking him out, and stole the keys. They woke up Gris (she was sleeping) and tried to find their way back to the tunnel.
They met a guard along the way.
They ran from him, but he was faster. He grabbed hold of Henry and Gris. He tried to choke them, but Katherine punched him in the nose, too.
It was epic.
They made their way back to the tunnel eventually. Henry and Gris decided it would be safer to go live in Wales, so they went home to pack, and left. They weren't recognized, but Gris is still calling herself Silvia (there aren't very many Grises) and they're pretending their last name is Townsend. They had another son, Larkin, soon after they arrived in Wales. They built a house on a moor and have started farming. They're mostly happy to not be dead.
Eira and Nat's daughter Anna was born a few days after the whole prison debacle. Sadly, Julian died of smallpox. They're very sad, but also grateful no one else got sick.
Raphael and Katherine welcomed a son and two daughters. Matteo and Lucia died when they were a few days old, but Joy has survived her first month, so they're optimistic.
Hermia died recently in her sleep. Bertram is in shock. He hasn't gotten used to the idea that his fiery wife is dead.
