Help[Opinions] Lindsay
I like this in a retro kind of way. I actually think it is kind of cool. Its popularity was probably hidden a bit by the two very popular spelling variants Lindsay and Lindsey. I think if both spellings had been combined it would have come close to the top 10. Yet it never seemed that crazy popular to me and I never found it all that dated.
What do you think? Which spelling? Dated?

There were a lot of spellings, yeah. Probably would have been around #10 if all combined.
It's about as dated as Amanda and Lauren. And Chelsea, although I guess Chelsea is a few years younger. Not a baby name, not "old" yet either.
It's not my style. But it's better than Taylor or Courtney. About as appealing as Ashley. Pleasant enough, but too surnamey for me.
I very much prefer the spelling Lindsay, for either sex. I slightly prefer the name for girls.
Lindsey reminds me of linsey-woolsey and just seems like it could be a mistake to me. It's like Chelsey.

It feels dated to me, and I've never understood the appeal. It seems too surnamey, and I don't like the sound of it either. It doesn't help that the one Linsey I know happens to be a cousin who's in and out of jail and rehab.

I really like Lindsay (as a feminine name), and I often feel alone in my liking of it, especially on BtN. I think Lindsay Lohan soured a lot of people on the name, unfortunately.
EDIT: Looks like just about everybody but me prefers the Lindsey spelling. Though I definitely like the look of the "a" better.

Definitely seems 80s/90s dated to me. Too old to be current, not quite old enough to be vintage just yet. The meaning is meh. The sound is meh. It really is just meh to me. If I had to pick, Lindsay seems like the nicer spelling.

Not a fan. However, I am much more inclined to the 'e' spelling. Looks nicer. Lindsey definitely.

Yeah, it's dated. It came along with Ashley and Courtney, but both those names stayed more popular for longer. Lindsay just didn't have whatever they had.

Lindsay for a boy, Lindsey for a girl.
It was never startlingly popular here, so I'm quite neutral about it. I think I prefer the female version, but then I'd be more likely to use Linden than Lindsey.
I had a colleague whose parents couldn't decide between Lesley and Lynn, so named her Lynsey. That, I didn't like.
