The royal wedding of King Edmund and Duchess Alice was a beautiful affair. All of King Edmund's family - siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews - gathered to congratulate the king and his bride. The new Queen Alice was positively glowing in her gown, and no one had seen her husband look so joyful as he did on that day. Alice has put her own touch on the royal castle, opening it up more to the public and hosting more royal balls. A new son, Prince Rupert, has also joined the family. Prince Charles was thrilled to have a brother at last, and he and his step-mother are now very close.
In the next month, Queen Philippa and King Hugo are preparing for Prince Charles to visit them. Florian and Crispin greatly enjoyed their visit to England, and now she wants to repay the favor. Word in the court of Genoa says that Queen Philippa is eager to introduce her nephew to a few young women who could be favorable marriage prospects for him in the future.
Prince Andrew and Princess Beatrice's separation did not last long, as Beatrice found herself pregnant very soon after the royal wedding! Her husband joined her and their children out in the country, where they welcomed twin sons. The couple remained in the country to sort through their differences, and they at last felt ready to return to the royal court. The prince was soon called away however, for more fighting had broken out along the border of Normandy. Andrew led his troops out to the battlefield bravely. He received a letter from Beatrice two months into the war, informing him that she was pregnant again. He immediately left the field in the capable hands of another commander, but was ambushed on his way home. Beatrice was in hysterics when she found out the news. Thankfully, their little daughter was born safely five months later.
Queen Philippa and King Hugo traveled back to England after Princess Cloe's birth, bringing a small representation from the Genoan court with them. Among the representatives was the Baron of Medici, a wealthy widower and respected adviser to King Hugo. The Baron was struck by Beatrice's beauty upon meeting her, even though she was recovering from the loss of her husband and the birth of her child. Just a few months ago, the Baron found an excuse to accompany King Hugo on a state visit to Portugal when he knew that Beatrice would be there to visit her sister, Princess Victoria. As they reconnected, Beatrice's heart softened to the Baron, and he proposed marriage. The two will marry very soon, and Beatrice is pondering renouncing her royal title in England in favor of retiring to Baron Raul's homeland. The Baron's previous marriage produced no children, and he needs an heir for his title and land.
Princess Victoria and Prince Adrian were thrilled to welcome another daughter into their family, the Princess Agatha. Over time, her family-in-law has grown to love her and her two daughters dearly, as the young family adds so much liveliness to the court. King Carlos, Adrian's father, recently passed away, so his older brother was just crowned King Alberto of Portugal.
