[Opinions] Re: Top 10 for July
in reply to a message by peonini
i've been unsure about Opal for the longest, for an admittably silly association (name of a character from very bad media that nearly all of my peers know of), but i love it too much. me and my partner's engagement rings are made of opal, which isn't the reason i like it, but adds a cute sentimental touch (hopefully doesn't come off as vain though).
also i get not liking Elkan or Elkanah. i'm a bit iffy on whether i'd use it myself. some people are put off by the "elk" part, but i love the animal so that adds to it.
Tihomir is said TEE-ho-meer (at least in Croatian and borrowed Hungarian usage). i also love many Croatian names, but my fiance's family is Croatian, not mine, and she alternates a bit on how comfortable she'd be using one.
ty for the feedback!

I think the Opal ring association would be cute, definitely not vain! The reason I’m back and forth with it is because I think of the beautiful opal gemstone (which is also my birthstone) which makes me like it, but at the same time I’m not sure on the actual sound of it.
The animal actually gives Elkan / Elkanah some appeal for me, and now that I revisited this Elkan really isn’t a bad name at all.
And thanks for the pronunciation help, I do like Tihomir!
