[Opinions] Monica?
Monica has just recently dawned on me. WDYTO it? I really love it lately, because I've remembered that ever since I was six or seven, I loved the sound, and I always thought of music when I said it. I still feel that way- and since October, I have had a wonderful association to go with it. So, even if you don't like it, you can see why I do.
I was just wondering what ya'll think of it, and if you have any combos. I would really like more "old-fashioned' names to go with it, such as Monica Jane, Monica Constance, Monica Adelaide, ect. Thanks so much!
Oh- and if you have time, WDYTO the combos I've already come up with?
Monica Jane
Pearl Monica
Monica Constance
Rosalind Monica
Monica Adelaide
Charlotte Monica

I've never liked it. It was the name of a mean woman I encountered a while ago. And I once read (I don't know how reliable this is) that in a few specific countries (It didn't list their names lol), it's illegal to name your daughter this. Don't quote me on that, though.

Why in the world would it be lllegal?
that sounds crazy, not to mention bizzare!

Reading these sites, I've learned a few things about other (non-U.S.) countries and their laws.
Some countries have naming laws to prevent silly parents from naming their children something cruel. When you go to register the name with the city / government clerk, they can veto the name. Like, if you wanted to name the child "Smelly Diapers" or something.
A few other countries have a list that you must choose from. My guess is that these countries want to preserve their ethnic culture. My second guess is that parents choose an official name, and then call the child by the "nn" they really love.
I make no judgements about these laws. I'm merely passing on information. I don't know if this is what Andrew was thinking of, either.

Got it! Makes sense now,

Monica was ruined for me a bit by Ms. Lewinsky and the character on "Friends" (whom I found ultra annoying). It also just seems outdated and not quite ready for a comeback, imo. :-/ As for combos, I like Monica Jane, Monica Constance and Monica Adelaide the best. The others don't flow very well, imo, esp. with Monica as a mn.

I love Monica. I definitely think it's an underappreciated name. Of your combos I like (love*):
Monica Jane*
Monica Constance*
Charlotte Monica
Monica Adelaide
Monica Rosalind/Rosamund/Rosemary would sound better having Monica as the middle name, IMO.
Personally I also like the sounds of:
Monica Elizabeth
Mary Monica
Catherine Monica or Monica Catherine
Monica Frances
Evelyn Monica
I'm happy you posted this. :-) I havn't given the name this much thought before, and now that I do I'm really enjoying it.

Those are very nice. I think Monica is underrated.

I can honestly say I am not fond of Monica and never have been. A few of your combos have a nice ring to them though.
Monica Jane - This one I like.
Pearl Monica - To me is sounds better as Monica Pearl
Monica Constance - It just doesn't flow
Rosalind Monica - It's just okay.
Monica Adelaide - This one I also like.
Charlotte Monica - Monica Charlotte sounds better.
A few I can think of are:
Monica Clarisse / Clarice
Monica Grace
Monica Francine
Monica Louise
Monica Adelle
Monica Claire
Monica Rose
Monica Victoria

I love the name Monica! It's one of my favorites for a girl, either as a FN or a MN, and I also have great associations with it.
Monica Jane: has a nice flow to it, although I'm not fond of Jane
Pearl Monica: the combo is okay but Pearl is dnmsaa
Monica Constance: perhaps too many hard "c" sounds in the combo, but I like both names
Rosalind Monica: this is pretty
Monica Adelaide: another nice combo
Charlotte Monica: nice
I personally love Monica Elisabeth & Monica Josephine. Some other combos that come to mind are:
Monica Celeste
Monica Angeline
Monica Selene
Monica Rose
Monica Gabrielle
Monica Rosalind
Monica Charlotte
Monica Josette
Monica Juliet
Monica Julie
Monica Lillian
Monica Lily
Monica Lacie
Monica Michelle
Monica Marie
