[Opinions] Duggar BA
Garrett David Duggar, born on June 8th to Joseph Garrett "Joe" Duggar, 23, and Kendra Renee Duggar (nee Caldwell), 19. Garrett was the name of Joe's maternal grandfather.
Nothing exciting, but better than I was expecting.
Other Duggar grandchildren, for comparison:
Mackynzie Renee, Michael James, Marcus Anthony, Meredith Grace, Mason Garrett (Joshua James "Josh" & Anna Renee)
Israel David, Samuel Scott (Jill Michelle & Derick Michael)
Spurgeon Elliot, Henry Wilberforce (Jessa Lauren & Benjamin Michael "Ben")
Gideon Martyn (Joy-Anna "Joy" & Austin Martyn)
and a girl due in July (Jinger Nicole & Jeremy Joseph)

I like that they used Joe's middle name for their first son. I'm not sure where David comes from but they've all used it so it's obviously honoring.
All in all it's a good name. Sure, it's not super exciting but it's still good.

I guess they just like David or it is a family name? I kind of like it. Jessa and Ben's kids names are probably the oddest of the set, especially spurgeon. Scott also seems somewhat out of place in that set.
Wow they really love their 19th century fundagelical preachers ....
Wilberforce comes from the 19th century anti-slavery activist William Wilberforce. Knowing the Duggars, though, they probably chose that name because he was a fundamentalist Christian and not because of his anti-slavery work!
I like Joy Anna as a combo but don’t really care for double-barreled names.

She was only 19? Wow, that’s really young to be married and having children.
And the name is okay. It’s a bit bland, but so much better than some of the stuff that’s popular now. It will serve him well throughout life.

It runs in the family - grandparents Jim Bob and Michelle married at 19 and 17; Joy was 19, Jessa's husband was 19, and there's an imminent wedding with a newly 19 year old bride (Lauren). They're against birth control so they usually end up pregnant within a year of their wedding. Gotta start early if you're aiming for 20 kids, I guess :P

Eh. It's fine. Boring. I wonder why they keep using David (John David, Israel David, Garrett David).
I'm kind of surprised they didn't attempt to bring in a new name, especially since you know they're going to have a buttload of kids and will therefore be able to use a buttload of family names in the middle.
