I actually knew someone named Taiga as a child, she was a really cool artsy person. She was adopted from an orphanage in Russia and that was the name that they gave her there, though, so I have no idea if it's actually a *good* name (other people adopted out of orphanages among my acquaintance group have tended to get stuck with really crappy names i.e. "big mouth" or "unwanted").
