[Opinions] Dorian
Do you like the name Dorian? Do you prefer it for a boy or a girl?

I love it! Only for a boy though. To make it work for a girl I think it would have to be changed to Dorianne, Dorienne, or at least Dorien (and pronounced accordingly) but I don't really like those.
(also, I've never heard it pronounced the way it says on this site. I've always heard it pronounced DOR-ee-ən... "dawr" seems very counterintuitive)

I love the name. I think it's incredibly handsome and I can only really picture it on a boy.
It's cute. Definitely thought boy.
Love this name! It was on our short list for a boy, but we’ll have to strike it off the list now that we already used one name with “dor” in it.
I really dislike it for a girl.

The Portrait of Dorian Grey! Definitely a male name. And I knew a Dorianne at uni - poised, dishy, blonde and definitely female; pronounced with a short o, DOreeAN. And English-speaking. An Afrikaans colleague's names were Anna Dorothea but she was always and only Dorianne - I never saw it written down, so it might well have been Doriaan, sounding like DORriAHN.
I don't much like it for a girl, though I love Marianne which is pretty close. I'd count it as a GP for boys; wouldn't use it myself, but for anyone with the audacity, it'd be fun.

I do like it and only for a boy. It is a softer and gentler male name, but I like that about it. It is similar in structure to Damian, which I also like.
I really like Dorian for a boy. It’s always come across as an intelligent sounding name. I definitely prefer it on a boy, I just can’t like it for a girl.
