Owen and Laura met twelve years ago when Owen's family moved to Hungary from South Africa. Laura's family moved to Hungary when she was two. They originally lived in Romania, but hoped for a better life for Laura and her younger sister in Hungary. Owen and Laura spent their teen years in a friendly relationship and only started dating after finishing at the university. They dated for six months before Owen proposed, and they were married eight months after that. Owen has a degree in mechanical engineering and works for a large company in Miskolc. Laura works as an elementary school teacher. The two of them are renting a small flat in a large apartment complex in the city.

Laura and the girls are settling in to their new house--the first house they've owned as a family. Petra started school in Szolnok and soon started asking Laura and Owen when they could get a pet like some of her classmates. Owen and Laura agreed to get a fish, figuring it would be an easy first pet. They took Petra to the pet store and she picked out Hajni, a pretty red betta fish. Rebeka and Rozsa started preschool this year, and are enjoying the time spent with their classmates too!
