I agree it’s boring, but don’t necessarily think it’s a bad thing for a name. Practically, your name shouldn’t get in the way and Hannah doesn’t.

It's super boring. Anna is much nicer. I have no idea why it became so popular.

I think it is a pretty name. It has just become to popular . Prefer Hanna

I love this name with an association of purity and innocence: also I "grew up with" a folk-like song by an older rock group by the name of Styx entitled "Sing for the day". I always thought the message to be beautifully tragic - that the singer lost a young child (sibling or daughter??) and would call upon the spirit of this child(?) with all the questions, worries, and splendors of existence - as though a personalized guardian angel. The lyrics would imply a sad longing, although the tone of the song is quite uplifting. (Now I've just learned that the 'Hannah' represents the audience). Am I pathetic?? (smile)

I like the name, and always have. Plus, I've had a few kick-ass friends named Hannah over the years, so it's a "good person" sort of name, to me. I can't dislike it because of those personal associations.

I don’t like Hannah but I do kind of like Hanna for some reason. I don’t think it’s awful, it definitely is a little boring though. Despite its popularity I’ve only ever actually known two Hannah’s, and I’m 18.

It bores me too. I never understood why it suddenly became so popular. It's so similar to Anna, which I also find boring as hell, but Anna's been more or less popular for forever, and Hannah had a pretty long dead spell before it came back.
It's like organic oatmeal with no sweetener or flavoring and only super skim milk, if that. Offensive in its inoffensiveness.

I agree, but I go a step further. It's not just boring,it's worse. Hannah is one of my most disliked names. I think it sounds and looks so unattractive. Therefore, I can't answer the question "What about it was attractive?" and I have no idea why it was so popular for a while.

Ugh, omg, I hate it...is my immediate reaction to seeing/hearing it and always has been. I have a similar reaction to Laura. Not entirely sure why.

it makes sense to me why it was so popular. it's a simple but pretty name with Biblical roots.

i actually haven't met a Hannah irl, or at least i don't remember, but i still wouldn't use it knowing how common it is. also for a slightly embarrassing reason...my first association with it is Hannah Montana. because it was my favorite show when i was a kid, and then immediately after i went through a phase of loudly disliking it, which all the adults around me thought was really funny and would bring up constantly for years afterward. i feel like a lot of others in my age group would also have a similar association, and so it'll drop in popularity a bit.

Bores me too. I think it's duller and more pretentious than Anna because of the double H...h but they're both biblical names and will therefore appeal to some parents. Anna, Anne and Ann have all been used for longer and with more enthusiasm, I think: so Hannah would also have the twin virtues of novelty and familiarity!

I don't mind it, especially since I met a Hannah in her nineties who had a really interesting life. She was Hannah Margaret which I think is a nice combo.

I used to really like it but now I'm bored by it :( I liked that it is a palindrome and that it has a good girl/friendly/pioneer kind of image. Now it is beginning to sound dated to me. I also don't like the sound very much anymore. It was never my favorite name and I the popularity of it just became a bit much, it's really common for my age group. I am even more bored by Anna which really is everywhere and more common here than Hannah. If I had to choose between them it would be Hannah for sure. But they are both boring.

Sorry, but I love the name Hannah and always have since I was a kid! I just find it so pretty and timeless, I love the meaning, I love the biblical connection and it ages well too. We considered using it but thought it might seem a little "normal", compared to our boys names which are more unusual. I still love it though!
