Before I get into my opinion on the name, please never name a baby after a former pet. I can’t believe I’d even have to say that. Sorry.
I’ve never really loved the name. The gem is nice, but the collection of sounds isn’t my favourite, and it reminds me of the unflattering word “rube”.

Never tell people what they can name their kid after :)
Also, who says I was looking to name after the cat? That’s partly the reason, but maybe I also just grew to like the name (it’s funny, I never cared for the name until recently, yet I gave it to my cat for who knows why).
