Alma Arthurson and Boro Mlakar live in Dubai, UAE, where they work as an art therapist and children's doctor respectively. Alma was raised in England by her Dutch mother and Irish father but moved to Dubai when she was 21. Boro was born in Romania, his parents were Serbian and Romanian but died when he was young. He was adopted by a British couple and moved there for several years before travelling around Europe with them. He has only recently moved to Dubai, met Alma through work and fell in love.

Alma's tearaway youngest sister, Liv, moves in on a temporary basis as a hope to curb her tenacity.

Alma finds herself unexpectedly pregnant, at 4 months along! In no time at all Olympia Magdalena Mlakar has made her entrance into the world with wavy, brown hair and grey eyes.

The Mlakar Household up and move to Norway where Liv and her now-fiancé are based, Alma also has more family there who can help out with childcare while Alma builds up her hours at work.

Finally in a house with a garden, after so long in one of Dubai's skyscraper apartments, Alma convinces Boro to adopt a dog. The family take in a stray from a local shelter and Alma names the young female crossbreed, Meria.

Alma and Boro make their brood an even number with what they say will be their last baby, Ivan Filip Mlakar boasts curly, red hair and green eyes and is loved instantly by his three big siblings.

Apparently Alma and Boro hadn't finished having children! When Boro assists on a heart transplant for a young orphan, his plight hits him hard. A few short months later and the family are going through the motions to bring 2 year old Tobias Izak home. He has curly, black hair and blue eyes.

The Mlakar's have the adoption bug. Next rounding their family up to 8, is poorly, English toddler, Isla Sophie who's respiratory illness, Boro is hoping to improve with clean, Cutch air and new techniques at his hospital. She has curly, brown hair and brown eyes.
