[Opinions] WDYTO Deirdre?
Hi !!!
What about this Irish name?
What vibe has it? What kind of person would be called Deirdre in your opinion?
Any name with a similar style (male, female, unisex)?

Deirdre is cool, but in the U.S., if you're not in a heavily Irish community, it might lead to pronunciation differences. I knew one or two growing up, and I lived in a heavily Hispanic community (both bearers were Hispanic themselves): they pronounced their name DEER-dray, which is neither the traditional Irish pronunciation (DER-dreh) nor one of the ones generally used in England (DEER-druh or DEER-dree; I personally dislike the latter). This might be something you run into in the U.S.; not sure about Canada.
I think Deirdre has a vaguely tragic air, but that might be the name's mythological origin influencing me. It's definitely not a name easily forgotten. Conversely, I knew a Deidra in college, and that name was just full of pizzazz! (Still prefer Deirdre, though.)

I love Deirdre. It sounds so mythical as well as natural. It has a real earthy feel to it.
Deirdre would be a teenage girl who is plain and kind of clunky but for some reason when your husband's friends meet her at your wedding they go on about how hot she is. (Deirdre was the name of the girl that my mother's cousin adopted and this happened lol.)
I've never really liked the name, just makes me think of deer.

I'd put it in the same category with Carol and Janet and Donna. Not quite ready for a comeback yet, but maybe on the cusp.
I played a character named Dierdre ("Deedee") in a high school play. I only bring it up because Lauren Ash from Superstore was also in that play with me and I wanted to brag about it to strangers on the internet. lol

The one I know is thirteen, it suits her. Her sister is Mira. A red head for me, with green or blue eyes.
Hm. I know a Deidre (DEER-dree) that is about 20. It's cute. I knew her when she was three and it suited her perfectly.
That’s cool. It’s just dated here is all.
