I'm usually not big on Sanskirt names, but this one has a nice ring to it. Jaswinder seems very feminine. I like NN Windy or Wendy, or maybe Jazzy. It's uncommon, bur not in the bad, ugly way.
Here's the flaw with it: Many Americans (including me the first time I saw it *hangs head in shame*) will look at it and say, "Eww!" or "Trashy!" or even "Oh, brother, another made-up name". Scorn from childhood mates will be often, and you better be aware of mispronunciation problems.

Only if the person bearing it is Indian, or it has special significance to the parents, I'd say. On first glance, it looks like "jazz winder". :-/

This is the name of my friend Ami's pet cat. I like it a lot too :-) It fits the cat (she's gray with black eyes, gorgeous) but it'd be great for a little girl as well. I like how "Windy" could be a nn lol. That's cute.

I agree. Jaswinder has a very nice sound--I'd probably want to call her Jassie (I have an aquaintance who's Yasimin nn Yassie, and I always thought that was sweet) or Windy! Without a nickname, though, it's still beautiful.
The only warning I have is that the average white American would likely look at it and go "made up!" You could also have some severe pronunciation problems from the unwashed masses.

You might even provide a Heaven for them. We need You for that. Hell we can make for ourselves.

hmm.. I didn't think of that. But isn't it pronounced just like it is spelled?

I'm not familiar with the name and am wondering if it is "jas" like the first syllable of Jasper or like the word jazz? And "wind" like to wind a clock? Or like blowing in the wind? I'm coming up with at least four ways to say it... help?
Ami says it almost like "jashwinda" but I'm positive it's just her accent. The correct pro., I have no idea. I say jas-winder myself and nobody in Ami's family has ever corrected me. ::shrugs::
edit: to clarify my pronunciation of Jaswinder - jahss-win-der
vs. Ami saying jahsh-win-dah
(Ami and her family are from India, I don't know where 'bouts though)
