I infinitely prefer Irene to Esther. Esther will always be old and clunky and unattractive to me. I used to think of Irene as an "old lady" name, because I had an aunt-by-marriage named Irene, but it's one of those "old lady" names that has grown on me. Now it seems smooth and romantic.
