King Arthur's... half sister was it? They had a son Mordred and then they all killed each other or something. My knowledge of these legends isn't the best as all I know about them has been from a combination of movies. Siri seems to know more.PS: Yes, Morgana is villified in every Arthur-related movie and unfortunately, I haven't had time to read the books (though I do own Le Morte de Artur (sp?), other books have been higher priority reading for me lol), and so that is the image I have of Morgana. Well, I take that back a bit - didn't Julianne Marguiles play a nicer Morgana once? Mists of Avalon, I think it was called.
edit: Personally, I've always been more into the stories of the knights and Guinevere myself. Arthur bores me most (but still fascinating!), because he's everywhere.

MorgaineI think in the Mists of Avalon her name was Morgaine but it's been so long since I've read it. But yes, much nicer story, since it was told from her point of view as a priestess trying to preserve the old religion in Western Europe..._________________________________________________

Morgan/Morgana/Morgaine - depends on the book you read but it's the same woman.
