I like it pronounced Ma-TEE-as, but not ma-THIE-us. I prefer the Matias spelling.

I really like it but only when pronounced ma-TEE-as. I also enjoy the spellings Mattias or Mathias and would be more inclined to use those over Matthias. It's not very popular in the US yet and is a fresh spin on Matthew with a bit of international flair.

I like it, with the English mə-THIE-əs pronunciation. However I prefer (and really love) the spelling Mathias, which is the name of one of my ancestors and turns up repeatedly in various branches of that family.

If I had a son today there's a good chance he'd be named Rowan Mathias.

I would not expect a Matthias to be German, considering the sound. It sounds Hispanic to me honestly. It reminds me of Matthew and Elias, and I like Elias but dislike Matthew.
