Merlin: it feels elderly, partly because of Merle and Mervyn and Marlon and Martin, partly because of the long-white-beardiness of it. But it's usable, and I could get a different impression if I met a young, non-nerdy one.

Galahad ... all that symbolism about male virginity and sacred chalices and whatnot! And to my non-medieval ears it sounds too close to Galadriel, giving it the same, and equally undeserved, gender-bender vibe as Merlin.

I think Merlin is usable. I actually know one in his 50s, he’s a bit of a hippy type so it suits him quite well.

If I had to use them I’d combine them with a more classic name, so something like James Merlin, Merlin Thomas or Joseph Galahad.

I dunno if I think it's usable or not, but it's absolutely a GP of mine. I like how it sounds and looks, and the associations I have with it.
I'd say I'm neutral about Galahad. I like it in theory, but maybe it's a bit too much for real life.

As far as Arthurian names go, I think Geraint, Percival, Gawain, Taliesin, Bedivere, Guinevere, Isolde, Igraine are also usable.

Merlin is not my style at all, but it is the name of Oscar Wilde's grandson so it's usable if you're adventurous. (Then again, Merlin's dad/Oscar's son was named Vyvyan.)

Galahad and Merlin. You're getting very Arthurian today. I have always kind of quietly loved Bedivere, Lucan, and Dagonet. (I'm not kidding. Don't judge.)
Always kind of thought Galahad sounded like Galadriel's brother. Don't love it or hate it. Very neutral.

I love Merlin especially in light of the Kingsman movie, and would happily use it. I'd pair Merlin with something very classic: Merlin Alexander, Merlin John, Merlin Henry.Galahad can go a little odder with middles: Galahad Oak, Galahad Xander, Galahad Thomas is my favorite Galahad combo, though.
