[Opinions] Re: Athena
I like Athena alright. I know an Athena, she's about 35. It's a little bit geeky to me, in a good way. Too associated with war for me to make a favorite, though.
I dunno about Athina, I don't think I've ever seen it before. It's not quite as appealing to me as more familiar Athena.
Maybe it's popular for the same reason Atlas and Orion and Phoebe and Odin and Titus and such are... heroic sounding names, especially classical ones, are sort of fashionable. Apollo, Ares, Freya, Hermione, Luna, Aurora all have a sort of similar vibe IMO.- mirfak

I'd agree about the reason for its popularity being the heroic/classical vibe.
I also think it's less "geeky" than it used to be? Or at least geeky names in general are more popular now.(I like the name but I wouldn't use it as a first name for an actual baby. Like can you imagine a 2 year old named after the goddess of wisdom screaming because they want candy?? lol. Although Athena was pretty chaotic and vengeful...)
