Dated still, here, especially Danielle. I grew up with tons of people named these.
Nicole seems less dated and I like it slightly more. I also like Nicola (NIC-o-la).
What I don't like about Danielle is mostly the yell sound in it. I like it more pronounced dah-nee-EL but I've always heard and said dan-YELL.
Danielle is a soft name, the Danielles I've known have been smart or witty, and slightly prickly. Nicole seems like more of a popular-girl name, bright and dominant and friendly. Both are pretty.
