Year 0: Maddie and Calvin have been married for eleven years, and they have three girls: Rosalind, Penelope, and Sienna. Roz and Ellie are both normal witches like their mother, but Sienna has the gift of parseltongue. The girls started displaying magic at ages 5, 1, and 2, respectively.

Year 1: Birth – Maddie and Calvin’s prayers for a boy have finally been answered! Maddie gave birth to Felix Oliver Abbott at full term and was very confused when the baby’s hair turned from brown to red to pink, and finally back to brown! The doctor told her this was a tell-tale trait of a metamorphmagus, a wizard or witch who can change their appearance at will. The girls are in awe of their baby brother’s special gift.

Year 2: Pet – ferret
Maddie and Calvin adopt a ferret for Ellie’s seventh birthday, and she names him Fergus. Felix loves to pretend he’s Fergus, and the parents are sometimes confused as to why the ferret can walk on two legs.
Meanwhile, Roz has made it into Hogwarts, being sorted into Slytherin. Her favorite class is Charms, and she always loves to practice on her family and friends. She also knits in her spare time.

Year 3: Birth – baby girl
Maddie has given birth to another girl, Anna Snow-Flower Abbott, and she’s an absolute joy. Anna enjoys tracking everyone’s movements with her eyes and swatting at her baby toys.
In her second year at Hogwarts, Roz makes the decision not to try out for Quidditch, as she wants to focus on schooling first.

Year 4: Family event – move somewhere new
The family moves to Appleby, where Maddie’s elderly mother lives, so Maddie can take care of her.
Roz tries out for the Quidditch team this year and makes it, becoming her team’s keeper. She also takes a Muggle Studies class, which she finds fascinating.

Year 5: Family event – death in the family
Maddie’s mother succumbs to her long-term battle with pancreatic cancer. She is buried at Appleby Cemetery next to her late husband.
Roz continues to her fourth year at Hogwarts.
