I actually really love Casper (prefer it spelled Caspar), but I like Jasper better so I probably wouldn't use it. I think the friendly ghost association is still present but I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing. I wouldn't mind at all if it became popular.

I have always liked the name. I think of the ghost but I think if I knew someone with the name they could easily override the association. And I think the association won't be nearly as strong for the coming generation. I don't think it'll be popular anytime soon in the US but I wouldn't be surprised if it became less obscure.

Whenever I see this name, I think of Casper the Friendly Ghost.

I think it is usable, the ghost association is pretty strong, but I'm not sure how much it persists with younger millenials and I think it ends up being the associations of peers that matter most. Casper isn't a super negative association anyhow. Casper is cute. I don't guess it will be popular, but moreso than it is now, especially as Jasper rises.

It's a common name where I live (Casper/Kasper) so I don't associate it with the ghost, especially not when spelled like Kasper.
I really like it, and I would consider it for a son.
