Year 0 - Tokyo, Japan - $$$

Charlotte is a pediatric nurse, born in London to Kenyan parents. She moved to Tokyo when she was 16, and met Joaquin when she was 19. Joaquin is from Barcelona, but moved to Tokyo when e was 18. They dated for several years, and got married last year.
Year 1 - Tokyo, Japan - $$$
For their second wedding anniversary, Charlotte and Joaquin both invited their families to stay with them in Tokyo for a week. It's a little crowded and there are a few language barriers, but everyone has a lovely time.

Driving home from work late at night, Charlotte was hit by a drunk driver. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Joaquin struggles to adjust to life alone, but just about gets through with the support of his friends and family.
Year 3 - Tokyo, Japan - $
Joaquin ends up severely in debt after Charlotte's death. Money is tight, but he gets by.

After a one night stand, Joaquin finds himself a father to twin boys. The boys' mother doesn't feel she's capable of taking care of them on her own, and neither she nor Joaquin want to enter a relationship, and so Joaquin takes care of Kaito & Kaede, although their mother visits regularly.

Joaquin's grandfather passes away, and leaves each of his grandchildren a fair amount of money. Joaquin's able to pay off the debt he incurred after Charlotte's passing.

After much nagging from the twins, Joaquin and Christina get a golden retriever puppy named Aki. However, a few months afterwards a fairly strong earthquake hits their area. Thankfully, their home is okay.
