Lorelei is one of my nicknames. I think it's a bit drippy and dramatic myself...

On a scale of 1 - 10, with 1 being the best, I'd rate Lorelei an 8 because I just can't take it seriously. The only thing I can see when I hear it is an unintelligent sex kitten.
I think it's a beauty, but I wouldn't use it with my surname, which also ends in 'i'.
Lorelei for me is a name that doesn't fit in categories. And in a bad way.
It feels like it has a Texan accent built into it, but the spelling and sounds normally suggest it's a bit more exotic than that. It has feminine sounds, yet something about it is so macho to me. It's supposed to roll off the tongue, with those 'r's and 'L's, however it sounds awkward, at least when I say it.
I'd rate it a 6 out of 20, because at least it has some decent nicknames in case a kid grows to hate it, like Lori, Lo, or Lei, I guess. Other that the awkwardness of the name I already pointed out, there's nothing else I can pinpoint which I don't like.
When it comes to sibling names, Lorelei seems like the kind of name parents of Carla, Julia, Caleb, or Jonathan would like.
As for middle names, maybe Jean or Haven could fit. I do think, however, that Lorelei makes a better middle name than first name, and it has some decent combos, like Jasmin Lorelei or Peyton Lorelei. Those sounded better in my head, actually.
