As a young girl, I adored Allegra. It was one of my faves until the allergy medicine came out. I can't go there now, I'm afraid. ;-)
I absolutely love it. I've seen the allergy medicine, but I associate Allegra with music.
I adore it!! It's one of my longest running loves.
I would use it in a heartbeat if I could convince my SO. I also like Elettra, which I know isn't related but has similar sounds

Please do not name your child Allegra, I can't help but associate it with allergy medication.
It's nice. Lilting and sophisticated.
I like it alright.
The sounds in it - the word "LEG" and the "GR" sound - aren't my favorites, but I think it's a very pleasant name. Kind of rustic. I personally wouldn't use a name that was literally a word for happy, but I don't think there's anything wrong with that.
I don't think the allergy medication matters a whit. The brand is ephemeral, the word/name/term is not. I think Chase and Piper are far, far, far more associated with brands than Allegra.

I'd hate to have such a very subject-specific name, though I suppose it's better than Andante.
But this might be because I'm entirely tone-deaf. Allegra would have been a life-long reminder of a handicap I'd be happy not to have. It is occasionally used where I live, so it's not a matter of unfamiliarity - I just don't enjoy it one bit.

I like it! I love the meaning, and it actually feels joyous, happy, and bright. I like the slightly indirect musical connection (allegro) too. The allergy meds always come up on forums, but luckily it isn't a well known association where I live, so it doesn't put me off. I'm not entirely sure of the sound, which is why I haven't put it on my list, but I'd love to meet a little Allegra.
I guess it sounds slightly pretty but unusable due to the over the counter allergy medication.
