[Facts] I submitted a name and it was deleted
Hi !!!
I submitted the name Huertas sone days ago.
Now I found that it was deleted..
Why?
It is a real name and I also provided its origin.
And then..why the editor didn't send me a PM maybe asking me where or how I found it so..talking with me before deleting it?

Maybe the name you submitted is repeat from others, check the mail box to get some meassage!
I checked INE (the Spanish statistical site) which Frollein Gladys should've done and it is indeed used as a first name, though it seems to be more often, if not, exclusively used on females.
Rene is right with regards to Huertas falling in fashion as the data on INE indicates.
Here's the source: http://www.ine.es/dyngs/INEbase/en/operacion.htm?c=Estadistica_C&cid=1254736177009&menu=resultados&idp=1254734710990
By the way, what source did you use for this following statement:
"This was the name of a Muslim converted to Catholicism. As he was given a fertile plot of land he chose this name to be known."
I can't seem to find a source for it so far.

It sounds like that was the character from the telenovela she watched in which she saw the name.
I deleted the name because when I double-checked it, I could only find it as a surname and unfortunately you didn't provide any sources that proved its use as a given name.
I generally don't contact the submitter as there are too many names submitted to get back to every single submitter every time, especially since the guidelines clearly state that the burden of prove rests upon the submitter:

Hi Frollein !!!
I found that name in a telenovela set in 1800s in Madrid. So I suppose that yes it could be very rare nowadays.

That's great. And exactly the kind of information that should be added to the "Notes" section when submitting a name. Saves both the submitter and the editor time and trouble ;)
In addition to that: the more reliable the provided sources the better.

And how do we know that just because its used in a Telenovela that it was used in real life? It might be able to stay as a Pop Culture admission.
I checked Facebook and could not find any people with this given name. It really looks like it fell out of use (like so many names do all the time).
