Schindler would be a good person to name after, if you have to name after anybody.
I don't care for that particular spelling even if it is the authentic German spelling. Oscar is much more familiar in the US, and the name is reasonably popular, especially with Hispanic families.
However, in the US it's also very strongly associated with the Muppet character Oscar the Grouch.
