I'm probably one of the few who prefer Diane, which is also dated. I just don't like the sound of Diana. It makes me think of someone evil saying, "Die Anna!"

It's one of those names (like Andrew, Victoria, Aurora, etc) that I know I should like, but I just don't.

I can see it becoming more popular because of Wonder Woman, but not in the Twilight/Bella way.

I used to love it, then it kind of dropped off my radar, and now it's back (because of Wonder Woman, lol). It's got the added benefit of being something of an homage to my mom, as well.

I love it, but my petty opinion is nothing compared with the depth of her heritage, which transcends the immediate peaks and valleys of popularity.

Diana lives - even without Wonder Woman, but if this will let her grow in popularity again, then let it be.

If it stays Diana, I like it very much. When it shortens to Di, I find it ugly and depressing. Either way, it's better than Diane with the English pronunciation. And I don't like Deanna at all. My current cat is Dinah, which is lovely for all species.

Whether a movie will influence popularity in these days of multiple TV channels, computer games etc, I somewhat doubt.

I love Diana. It's always been one of my favorites. It's kind of dated, but it might become more popular because of Wonder Woman.

I was considering this just the other day. I think it will rise in popularity. Kind of hope it will actually.

I dunno, isn't it still too associated with the late Princess of Wales? Or maybe younger people who don't really remember won't make the association?

I like Diana pronounced like Deanna (as in the original Latin pronounciation) rather than Day-ana.

I love Diana. It seems stylish, classic and beautiful to me, and not dated. Diane is slightly dated, but I personally love that too, and don't mind. Diana has never been super popular, or rare either, and I don't associate it with any particular age group, so to me, it isn't dated.

I've always liked Diana (and Diane as well); it's a very pretty name that always made me think of gracefulness.

I like it, but I like Diandra and Diantha more.

I like it in theory, but it still seems a little dated to me.

It has a nice meaning but I never really cared for its sound. I like that it has a long history and Lady Diana is a nice association but that's about it. I dislike the nickname Di and for some reason the -ana part is a bit much for me even though I often love -ana names such as Eliana.

I much prefer Diane. Diane is strong and really down to earth. It shares Diana's great meaning but it is more relaxed. It is also less likely to get shortened because it only has two syllables.

I think Diane will have a huge comeback in 20 years or so. Diana not so much. It might rise a bit but that will be about it. It seems a bit 80s/90s to me and I think if it had the potential to become crazy common that would have happened in the 90s when Princess Diana was alive. In general I see all those long, feminine A-ending names falling over the next couple of decades and more down to earth names becoming popular instead. Instead of Isabella, Olivia, Sophia, Eliana, Ella etc. I expect to see names like Marlene, Diane, Rose, Joanne, Lucille, Camille, Ellen, Josephine etc. to be popular.

I kind of expected a surge when Princess Diana died, but it doesn't seem to have happened. I think it will never really go out of style the way Diane did, but I also don't expect much of a rise, and not one that lasts a long time if the movie does set off one.

Yeah, I expect it will. I definitely like it a lot more because of the film. Much feistier and badass, and less dated. I feel like it loses something when I (and most around me) say it though. They made it sound so beautiful in the film, but in my accent it's pretty meh in comparison. I couldn't use it, since I love Artemis far too much, but I wouldn't mind seeing some little Dianas (especially named after 'Ms. Prince').
