I will add that the spellings Cathrine and Kathrine make me feel uncertain about the pronunciation. I would be uncertain if it was KATH-rin or KATH-reen.

Today my favorite spellings are probably Cathryn and Kathryn. I've known many nice people named Kathryn with that spelling. My favorite science teacher Kathryn Kelsey, an adorable little girl who had a cowboy alter ego called Johnny of the West, and then fictional character Kathryn Janeway.

I like both the C and the K spellings, the C spellings are blonde and the K spellings are redheads or auburn haired. The C spellings have more of an elegant and classic vibe while the K spellings feel more feisty and laid back/ casual.

Also I dislike when Katie and Kate are nn's for C spellings even though it is traditional I would rather spell them Catie and Cate.

A friend of mine recently named her daughter Kathryn, and is using the nn Ryn. Even in that case, I would have preferred the nn Rin.

I dislike both and prefer a spelling with an e or a in the middle. Of these I suppose I would pick Kathryn because it at least has some history. Kathrine just looks like an error.

Definitely Kathryn, because it looks intentional. Kathrine looks deformed rather than unfinished, and I'd hate to go through life with a name like that. (Same thing with Debra instead of Deborah.)

That said, if I had to use any version, it'd be Katharine.

I like Kathryn more than Katherine. Not sure why - probably positive associations with nice Kathryns.
I like Catrin better though.

Totally personal on this one! Kathryn is my first name, that spelling. I'm named for an Aunt, one of my father's sisters.She spelled it that way, so, so do I.

I can't stand the Kathryn spelling. I know it has been used for ages but it has always looked creative to me :( Kathrine is a Scandinavian spelling that is not pronounced like the English name Katherine. Pronounced the same it looks misspelled. If you are sick of Katherine I suggest Catherine :P It is the nicest by far, in my opinion, followed by Katherine and Katharine.

Kathryn, without a doubt. Kathrine looks like a typo. It looks strange, almost as strange as Katy Perry's fn (Katheryn).

I usually prefer Kathryn of these two. I like Catherine as well, but Kathryn seems much more... upbeat? Social? Something like that, hard to explain. But most days Katherine would be at the bottom of those three.

Slightly off-topic, but my personal favorite spelling of the name is Katharyn, though that's far less common than Kathryn and more likely to be misspelled.

Kathryn seems like a very middle-aged spelling.
