I am actually starting to like this a bit. A few years ago it was one of my least favorite names, now I am starting to warm up to it. I generally don't like too many names that end in -ica/-ika. I dislike Jessica, Annika etc. I used to really dislike Monica and Erika/Erica too but I am warming up to them a little bit. Monica seems a bit dated.

It's okay. I should like it because it is a classic but I really don't. It's not a bad name but there is something so strong and harsh about it. It is lacking a certain sweetness. I like strong names but they need something sweet to balance them out. Adelaide just seems harsh to me, I think of a very strict older lady or a strict nanny - someone like that. I much prefer Adeline it seems more elegant and sweet. Adelaide makes me think of very dark blue colors and there is just a sadness and harshness to it.

I find this a bit dated too. It has never been super common in France or Austria but Simone (sometimes spelled Simonne in France) used to be a really common in both countries. In Austria it is pronounced more like zee-MO-neh, but in France it is pronounced with two syllables. I know in Italy it is a name for men. It isn't bad but seems dated and bland.

Is this perceived as being tacky in Italy? I was wondering about this. It seems a bit like it would have a tacky vibe to it but maybe that's because Jada has a tacky vibe to it in English, in my opinion. Now I am sounding like I don't like Giada but I actually do like it quite a bit. I love the gemstone and it has a nice sound. But just as with Jada there is something trendy about it that I don't like. Jade is much much better than Jada, in my opinion. Overall it is fine but I don't really love it. It is a cute name for someone else.

I like it. It's a classic with a nice meaning. It is way too common right now, at least in German speaking countries. It became very popular recently. There is something a little bit harsh about it. I like it but am a bit bored by it and I wouldn't use it myself.
