I really like Robin for a boy and actually much prefer on a boy than a girl. Rob or Robbie or Robbo would be inevitable here in Australia, everything pretty much gets shortened! I'd kind of prefer it as a middle name, because of that. You could just be really adamant that his name is Robin and that's what he is to be called though.
