Graham and Liv give Zach a pet lizard for his birthday after he'd asked for one since Christmas. He names him Raphael, for a reason Graham and Liv have yet to figure out.

When Zach asked to take skating lessons after a class trip to the local ice rink, Graham and Liv agreed. He progressed quickly, but one day, while practicing backward crossovers, he slipped and fell, breaking his wrist. They thought that would be the end of skating, but it was all he could talk about the entire time he was in his cast. So the day after the doctor cleared him, he was back in the rink, along with Devin and Annie, who started Snowplow Sam lessons.

Year 13
Much to Graham's disappointment, Zach had decided to continue with figure skating instead of hockey (he hasn't given up on Devin though, or Annie or Vivian, for that matter), and his coaches had suggested that he try pairs skating. So he tried out with a few girls, but felt best with Madeleine Moors, a 10-year-old from Denver. Obviously, Maddie's parents weren't about to let their 10-year-old daughter move 4 hours away from home to skate with a boy she'd just met, so, for the time being, Maddie and her mom, Roxanne, live with the Sessions family Monday-Thursday, while homeschooling Maddie. Thankfully, the partnership seems to be paying off, when they win the Midwestern Sectional Championships in the juvenile division, qualifying them to the National Championships.

Year 14
Annie's tooth is knocked out by an errant flying puck during her first hockey practice, and she immediately decides that she will "never play hockey ever again, Mama. Sorry, Daddy." Thankfully, it had been a baby tooth, and she's young, so a lost tooth looks cute.
Maddie and Zach win the silver medal at the National Championships a week later, and Annie decides she wants her own medal, so decides to go back onto the ice...but in her figure skates this time.
The rest of the Moors family finally moves out to Colorado Springs when Keegan finds a job, so Maddie and Roxanne move out of the Sessions family's home and into their own. Maddie's older sister, Jillian, is extremely irritated by having to switch schools and leave her friends for her senior year of high school. She sees how happy it makes her sister, and decides she wants to take her first lessons, and makes friends over the summer through skating.

To everyone's surprise, including their own, Graham and Liv discover that they're expecting another baby. They welcome Sophia Marissa seven months later. She has curly brown and hazel eyes. She's born just a week before Zach and Maddie go to compete at the Sectional Championships, making it the first competition that Liv has missed. They come in fourth place out of five teams in the tough novice division, barely qualifying for Nationals.

Motivated by their low placement at Sectionals, Maddie and Zach trained hard and came back to win the National title by a small margin, which also earned them an invitation to the Junior Grand Prix in Madrid, Spain, where they placed fifth, a decent placement for a couple of 13-year-olds (at the time) at their first international assignment.

Year 17
The Sessions family takes a vacation to Disney World in Florida, their first time as a family, though Graham and Liv had been separately before. Zach worried about losing training time, but Maddie nearly smacked him upside the head for trying to pass up Disney World. "Honestly, Zach, if you don't want to go that badly, I'll happily take your place."
It clearly didn't hinder their progress, as they place fourth at their first JGP in Moscow and win their first JGP medal, a bronze in Graz, Austria.

Graham is promoted within his firm. Shortly after that, Zach and Maddie win the silver medal at Nationals, earning a trip to the Junior World Championships in Tokyo, Japan, where they place eighth. Later that year, for the first time, two Sessions kids compete at the Sectional Championships, Annie having placed fourth in the juvenile girls competition at the Regional Championships. Maddie and Zach win handily, by six points, and Annie narrowly squeaks into fourth place, by two-tenths of a point, qualifying her to the National Championships as well. Vivian's hockey team goes undefeated in their season.

Year 19
Colorado Springs is hit by a blizzard, not unlike the one that hit the year after the Sessions family first moved there. Again, they don't lose power, but this time, the blizzard hits the day before Annie is to leave for Nationals, as her competition starts before Zach and Maddie's does. Liv and Annie carpool slowly and carefully with the juvenile pair team that qualified to Nationals, their moms, and their coach to the airport, where their flight ends up being delayed for four hours. They miss their connection in Denver, but somehow end up in Detroit before Annie's first practice starts. She ends up finishing seventh, ahead of a couple of girls who'd placed higher than she had at Sectionals. Maddie and Zach, who'd arrived at the arena just in time to cheer Annie on, won Nationals for the first time, their two triple jumps separating them from the rest of the junior pairs. They were fifth at Junior Worlds.

Year 20
After winning Nationals as a junior pair for the second time and winning the bronze medal at the Junior World Championships, Zach and Maddie prepare to take their senior pair test. Unfortunately, Zach manages to break his wrist (AGAIN) WHILE they're taking their test. They take it as a sign to stay juniors for one more year. Even with limited training time, they win their two JGP events and the JGP Final, not even having had to compete at Sectionals.

Zach worried about losing training time, but Maddie nearly smacked him upside the head for trying to pass up Disney World. "Honestly, Zach, if you don't want to go that badly, I'll happily take your place."
It clearly didn't hinder their progress, as they place fourth at their first JGP in Moscow and win their first JGP medal, a bronze in Graz, Austria.

Year 18
Graham is promoted within his firm. Shortly after that, Zach and Maddie win the silver medal at Nationals, earning a trip to the Junior World Championships in Tokyo, Japan, where they place eighth. Later that year, for the first time, two Sessions kids compete at the Sectional Championships, Annie having placed fourth in the juvenile girls competition at the Regional Championships. Maddie and Zach win handily, by six points, and Annie narrowly squeaks into fourth place, by two-tenths of a point, qualifying her to the National Championships as well. Vivian's hockey team goes undefeated in their season.

Year 19
Colorado Springs is hit by a blizzard, not unlike the one that hit the year after the Sessions family first moved there. Again, they don't lose power, but this time, the blizzard hits the day before Annie is to leave for Nationals, as her competition starts before Zach and Maddie's does. Liv and Annie carpool slowly and carefully with the juvenile pair team that qualified to Nationals, their moms, and their coach to the airport, where their flight ends up being delayed for four hours. They miss their connection in Denver, but somehow end up in Detroit before Annie's first practice starts. She ends up finishing seventh, ahead of a couple of girls who'd placed higher than she had at Sectionals. Maddie and Zach, who'd arrived at the arena just in time to cheer Annie on, won Nationals for the first time, their two triple jumps separating them from the rest of the junior pairs. They were fifth at Junior Worlds.

Year 20
After winning Nationals as a junior pair for the second time and winning the bronze medal at the Junior World Championships, Zach and Maddie prepare to take their senior pair test. Unfortunately, Zach manages to break his wrist (AGAIN) WHILE they're taking their test. They take it as a sign to stay juniors for one more year. Even with limited training time, they win their two JGP events and the JGP Final, not even having had to compete at Sectionals.
