When a group from a Romanian orphanage came to visit their synagogue, Eli and Ziv felt led to apply to adopt a child from that country. Despite having two little girls, they felt like they could love and support a third child. They were matched with a little boy, Petre, who had always wanted to belong to a big family. He is seven years old, and doesn't know much English, but he is slowly adjusting to life with the Kaplans. Eli and Ziv have spent the last several years living in a sort of "permanent chaos" mode. This year, they decided to change that. One of the young ladies in their synagogue, Annie, had graduated from high school, but wasn't sure what she wanted to do from there. Ziv convinced her to come and live with them (for a small stipend) and get practical life experience caring for children. Three weeks ago, Annie moved in as their full time nanny, and the Kaplan's couldn't be happier at how the addition of just one more adult set of hands has made their lives easier.
