What do you think of Brendan? Do you prefer Brendan spelled Brendon? What do you think of the nn Bren?

I like it a lot; just about the only fashionable Irish name that I do like. And I prefer the Brendan spelling, though my son's best friend since they were three years old spells his name Brendon.
Bren is inoffensive. It could also be a nn for Brenda, no doubt, but there aren't that many Brenda people in the world any more, so that's not an issue.

I met a Brendon for the first time last weekend. A few days later I realized he didn't spell his name as Brendan.
Brendon feels like someone couldn't choose between naming their kid Brendan or Brandon so they went with Brendon. My own parents couldn't decide if they were going to name me Brendan or Brandon if I had been a boy, maybe I would have been Brendon.
Also I forgot that Bren was a nn for Brenda. Even if it is thought of as slightly feminine I am fine with that.

Brendan's not a terrible name, but I prefer Brennan. Brendan's definitely the better spelling! I think Bren's a really nice nickname!

I do also like Brennan just not as much partially because it feels a bit like a surname but they are both very handsome names.

When I was very young I thought of Brendan as an upper class white boy name probably because I knew a Brenda who was an upper class white girl. But as I aged I've meet very few Brendan's and the few I have met have all been artistic nerds from middle or lower class families.
I did recently meet a law school friend of my husband named Brendon. It's the first time I've come across that spelling. He was super friendly and a bit buzzed when I met him. I don't know if he comes from a well off family but he probably does. All I know is that he moved to Chicago from Florida.
A lot of B- names for both genders definitely have a rich person vibe. Although I have also met a lot of Briana's/ Breanna's, Britney's, and Brayden's from very poor families. I feel that rich people are more likely to be douchey than anyone else. Bentley and Bradley seem like super rich douche names. I guess to me Brendan doesn't seem as high society as a lot of other B names or names like Kenneth or Godfrey.
