Help[Facts] Saverius
Saverius was the name of a 4th century Christian martyr in Persia. I'm not sure what language it's from, I would guess either Greek, Latin, or Persian. Any ideas?

My guess that it's probably a Latinized form of a Persian name. I highly doubt it's connected to Xavier since that name came over a thousand years later. One thing to keep in mind is that many names from antiquity have fallen out of use, so I don't know if there are any modern Persian names that are close to it.
At the time, Persia was part of the Sassanid Empire, which was quite large and included many regional languages, so the name could have come from a regional language like Aramaic, Scythian, or Georgian.

No, this cannot be (given the data and place of attestation). Xavier/Xaver is a Basque name and was established as a given name (derived from a place name) a full millenium later.
