Where I live it's not common at all: in my whole life I've known exactly two, and the baby one was named after her grandmother (who goes by a nn form of her mn - Elizabeth) so they really only count as one, I think.

I'm not remotely religious, but there's a medieval poem to the Virgin that starts "Of one that is so fair and bright Velut maris stella" (Like a star of the sea) which I've loved all my life. A name attached to an image like that has got to be special!
