I think Caroline is beautiful! I prefer it without a nickname, and pronounced -line. It is a little common, but not overwhelmingly so. For me, I'm only a little disenchanted by it in how much it's used, but it's not as bad as, say, Jessica or Mary. I still think it has charm.
