ReubenI don't love Reuben but I don't like Riley at all. In this scenario I tend to default to the more established or classic name, so there you go. Reuben. And honestly, I'd be more amused to introduce a Reuben "...like the sandwich" than I would be embarassed. I'd rather my kid share a name with a sandwich than have a name I don't like.

It is kind of annoying when a first name is used to name an object and then it's shied away from for that reason. Like Mercedes -- you always hear, "It's a car." And then when you point out that it was a name before it was a car, and in fact the car was named after a person who had the name Mercedes, you hear, "Well yes I know that but what difference does that make? Now the car is well-known so that's what people think of."However, I don't think the car has rendered Mercedes unusable because I have known two young women named Mercedes. My reason for disliking the name Reuben have nothing to do with the sandwich, and if I liked the name I wouldn't allow the existence of the sandwich to deter me.

RileyI'd have to go with Riley. It's boyish and trendy, but nice enough. Reuben is all sandwich to me.

Reuben. Riley was popular here a few years ago, and now Reuben is getting quite popular. I prefer Reuben though, it seems more classic and less surnamey.

Rileyl like Riley and really dislike Reuben.

Riley as a name just conjures up bratty visions, while Reuben is warm and strong. And the sandwich thing doesn't bug me - I do like me a Reuben sandwich.

ReubenNo Reuben sandwiches here, so he'd be fine. Don't know if I'd actually use it, but I kind of like it.
Riley's too last-namey for me - better on a pet. Or a vintage car.

RileyBecause Reuben sounds so 'stuffed' and it's also a bit too Religious for me.
Riley is a long-time favorite of mine so the choice was easy.

RileyI know it will be an unpopular opinion on here, but I actually quite like Riley on a boy. Hate it on a girl. I think Riley is a friendly, fun name. Reuben just reminds me of a sandwich, and Reuben Studdard.

I'd choose Reuben. It comes down to nicknames, really. I'd rather have a Reu or Ben than a Ri/Ry.

Reuben!I love it, it is gorgeous. Hubby doesn't like it :( Theodora and Reuben sound like a great sibset Riley is super over used here. It's nice on a boy, and it's definitely mainly a boy name here.

ReubenI've always liked it, at least once I could disassociate it from the sandwich! I think it's gentle, dependable, and warm. And Ben is of course a nice nickname. ;) I would consider using it if I didn't already have a Ben and had a different last name.

Definitely Reuben, I love the name! It's timeless, masculine, handsome and has a sweet meaning.

Riley... I only like this on a boy and would prefer it spelled Reilly.Reuben sounds like a red-faced, angry old man, and it's a sandwich. It's also composed of two sounds that are pretty unflattering, IMHO.

Riley. I am not a huge fan of it, but I hate Reuben, despite it being Biblical and established, vs. Riley being neither. I really don't like the way Reuben sounds. Pretty simple.______________________________________________________________________________________

Riley, though I don't like either one. At least Riley isn't a sandwich.Ha, what would be really funny would be a pair of kids called Reuben and Rachel. A Rachel is a sandwich that's similar to a Reuben but it has coleslaw instead of sauerkraut and I think, corned beef rather than pastrami.

There's a sandwich called a Rachel? I never knew that.

Yep. Super common around here.

yes, apparently ...There is a Jewish deli in Ocean City, MD, where we went last summer after the air show, and there was a Reuben and a Rachel on the menu.

I always thought that a Reuben has corned beef and sauerkraut and a Rachel has turkey instead of corned beef and coleslaw instead of sauerkraut. There may be regional variations for all I know. But I always make a Reuben with corned beef, not pastrami.

ThisI have never heard of a Reuben with pastrami

most places I've been ...That have had Reubens have served them with pastrami.

Tis wrong!:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reuben_sandwichI wonder how many times I've been slipped pastrami when I ordered a Reuben in a restaurant. What is the world coming to.

Reuben. I like it, it has a good history. Reuben Emmanuel is a favorite combination

I've never liked Reuben, so I'd go for Riley, although that spelling is more flimsy to me. If I could tweak it, I would name a son Reilly. I think it looks sturdier. Plus, I'm part Irish and so is my fiance.

Reuben if I had to. Reuben "Benny"Riley is fine but I am kinda sick of hearing it constantly especially on a girl but that's a different matter I won't get into. Plus, I have a dog named that so the name would feel unusuable to me for any my future kids. Also, Riley does sound a bit flimsy to me. Better as a middle name I think. I like these posts (:

Reuben, it is more substantial and like the nickame Ruby for it!
