[Opinions] Nicknames for Susannah
Susannah has been one of my favorite names for years and years but it never quite makes it to number one because I come up short with a nickname that feels right for me. My family shortens EVERYTHING or lengthens short names so unless you go in with a predetermined nickname if you want to avoid the ones you don't like as much, you could wind up with anything. I have a similar habit to my family so I probably shouldn't blame them entirely ;) For example, my cousin's wife thought that she could enforce the full name Mackenzie on the family and wouldn't accept that it would be shortened. Consequently, by the time the baby left the hospital two years ago, she was already "Macka" to the whole extended family and that's what she is 100% of the time to everyone but her parents. *eye roll*
The ones I've thought of and don't hate but also don't love for a child of my own are:
Susie - cute and warm but kind of homely
Sanna - sounds cold and harsh to me, which is the opposite of what I love about Susannah
Anna - I like this because it has a family connection too but if I loved Anna enough, I'd just name my kid Anna
Annie - I've never really liked Annie, it has always sounded babyish and whiney
So...nicknames for Susannah? Be as creative as you like- and I mean it, be creative!
As a side note- I know you can't avoid what your kid might choose or what others may nickname her completely and if she chose to go by any of the above, I don't hate them enough to not consider using Susannah...I could live with them and learn to love them if they fit her. I just want to see if there is something better out there.

Susanna (sans H) is one my favorites as well, though I'd prefer it without a nickname. I feel the same way about Genevieve. I know if I use it, it will get shortened, but I'll use it anyway.
I think everyone's hit on all the suggestions I'd make. I really like Sunny. I think it works as a NN for Susanna and it's just so delightful.
I like Zuzu well enough, though it is childish. I knew a Susanna whose friends called Zan. I love Annie as a NN for any of the many Ann(e)- names, but I feel like you lose the essence of Susannah with Anna/Annie. It's just a completely different name to me.
Shanna?
Suanne?
Sansa? (A little too Game of Thrones?)
Sandy?
Sula?
Susha? (A little too fishy?)
Zansa?
I'd go with Sunny.

My favorite
is Sukey ("SUE-key").

My hairdresser just goes by Suz, which I think is adorable. I honestly wouldn't worry too much about family giving a nickname. We see our family at least once a week. They all call my daughter by a nickname that we never use. Our daughter is almost 3, she doesn't consider that her name. And she's started correcting people, which we never told her to do. We don't mind other people calling her something else. Most kids will identify with what their parents call them.
Hmm...as creative as I want huh? Well, in that case...
Susie Q
Curly Sue (like the movie...better use a curling iron on her hair if it turns out to be straight, though lol)
Suza
Suzuki (especially if she gets a Suzuki as her first car lol)
Zuzu
Zaza (or Zsazsa!)
Zanna
Zannie
Zany (as in the word for crazy)
Zany Sue (while I'm thinking about Zany...lol)

My favorite is Annie, but I know you don't like that.
Some others have suggested Sunny, which I think would be adorable. Sun also works. I've also thought about calling a Susannah "Sally," which I really like but might be too stretchy for you. There's also Sandy, which I dislike, but it works. There's also plain old Susan!
The only one I cannot stomach is Sukie. Good God what a foul nickname.

Zann and Zanne are both nice. I think Sunshine is too much of a stretch but Sunny (suggested by some others) maybe wouldn't.
I like Susie and dislike Sue. I think Susie is also would be my intuitive go-to that happens unintentionally and I wouldn't have an issue with it. I'm just not in love with Susie and I'd hesitate to use Susannah if that was a planned nickname, if that makes sense?
Thanks!
