If you like the full name, don't worry about the nickname. Most people I know who have nicknames go by things that have NOTHING to do with their name, eg Tom "Red" (red hair), Elizabeth "Midge" (she's the shortest in her family by a long way), Danielle "Dottie", Alice "Rosie" (blushes a lot). Most nicknames are organic.

Also, Odette is two syllables. It won't necessarily be shortened.
