I think Doris is rather lovely. Always had more of the sea nymph than the old lady about it to me.

I actually kinda like Doris. I feel like I'm the only person who does.

Weird, I was just thinking of Doris the other day. I always thought it was horrid but, that day, thought "well, hey, it's not SO bad." It's just one of those names that takes awhile to appreciate--it doesn't scream "pretty" right off the bat.

I find that my impression of this name is slowly brightening, too. Perhaps it's about to swing into fashion. I can see it as, like... cute and dear. Lol.

My little sister (born 1995) had a school friend named Doris - a total braniac, very dry and hilarious, great writer. Her parents were immigrants so it always struck me as an out-of-touch-immigrant-parent name - yeah... I'm horrible - but it also fit the image of a spunky teenage braniac pretty well.

It's not my favourite, but I could see it growing on me, I love Dorothy and Dorothea and am a fan of names ending in the -iss/es sound. It wouldn't be hard for a little Doris could push me to the fan side.

I adore Doris! It's so sunny to me.

Doris is cute. It's definitely old sounding to me but not as shrewd and prune-y as Mildred or Gladys.

My mother had a cousin named Doris. I guess she was around my mother's age, born in the 1920s, when the name was very popular. She must be dead now, though I never actually heard that she had died.

Yeah, I've always thought of it as a horrible old lady's name, too, but maybe it's not so bad. Not that bad when you repeat it over and over and imagine a little girl. A lot of people liked it in the 1920s. It could happen again.
