Keaton
I think of Kevin as sort of rough and grating, along with Devin and Gavin. -lvin and -rvin names aren't like that, but Kevin, Devin, and Gavin are. They all make me think of the feeling of digging in rocky, gravelly earth with a metal tool. It's not horribly unpleasant, but neither is it appealing. I would like it more if the correct spelling were Keven or Kevan, but those look wrong. Kevin is a dadname now.
Keaton makes me think of cheatin' ... not cheating, but cheatin', like - your damned cheatin' 'eart. It sounds "country" ...probably because the t becomes a glottal stop. It also makes me think of the old TV sitcom Family Ties (like Mallory does) because that was their surname. (I wish I did not remember that. I never even watched the show on purpose) I dunno, I just think it's gimmicky. I know someone with a daughter Ryan and a son Keaton... it's so perfectly matched.
Anyway for a baby, I sort of expect Keaton would get a better reception just because it's newer-fangled. Personally I'd choose Kevin (after a good friend of mine) but it wouldn't be on any list I made.

My thoughts exactly
I was going to say basically all of that in a post, but now I don't have to. What is it about Kevin?

It's a troublemaker name.
This is from someone who actually likes the name Kevin:
It's a troublemaker name. I know when I was growing up in the 90s, it seemed like 9 times out of 10 mischief was done by someone named Kevin or Joey (and they were often blamed even if they weren't responsible).

Haha. That troublemaker was probably my husband, who is named Kevin.
Agreed
Definitely a troublemaker name. Kevin is the kid's name in Home Alone.
