[Opinions] Edgar
Edgar? Can you picture someone of every age range with this name? What images does is conjure? Is it dark, stuffy, fresh, old, ugly, etc?

I have a soft spot for Edgar, but I do have a hard time picturing it on a little guy or young man. I only ever picture my grandpa, with his bibs and cane. He could sound gruff, but really he was a loving prankster.

It has a dual image for me and they are opposite to one another.I had a great-uncle (by marriage) named Edgar, and he was an outgoing, talkative, fun guy who loved to dance and had led an interesting, full life. Then there's Edgar Allan Poe. Pretty much the opposite, except for leading an interesting life. I think he gives the name a dark edge.I can't say I like it. It makes me think of eggs, due to the fact that when my sisters and I were children, we didn't pronounce the D in Edgar, calling our great-uncle "Uncle Egger."I really can't picture a baby, young child, or teenager with the name---but then I've seen the identical comment made about Abraham, which is my 7-year-old grandson's name, and I naturally don't have a problem at all seeing it on a baby or young child. All it takes is for a name to be used and that thought disappears.

To me Edgar is pretty old and stuffy, a little serious, sinister, uptight... but if I were to meet a little baby Edgar, I'd probably change my mind. I feel like it could be ready for more use today.

yeah. having actually had contact with a real life Edgar ... old, stuffy, ugly, repressed, and perpetuating bad patterns.

I like Edgar, it's elegant, retro, a teeny weeny bit sinister, has got some cool namesakes.... Id' love to meet a little Edgar.
