yes, you' re right in thinking, it's the German feminine form of Sven with the Germanic element of svan, meaning swan.
Well, a really nice and cute name, I know some, who called just that.
Others variants are Swenja, Swantje or Swanhild.
But my favorite in this category is the Croatian and Serbian Sanja, meaning dream.
(of course good as well the wise Sonja & the noble Sancia)
