It's one of the uglier dated names IMO.
Back in the 70s, when we were teenagers, my sister had a friend who had an older sister named Donna. I never met her, but I used to hear about her. It seemed like she was not a very nice person, she was always picking on her younger sister.
Years later, in 2009, Donna was killed in the crash of a commuter plane as it was approaching Buffalo NY. She was a flight attendant working the flight. She had fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a flight attendant, after 27 years as a SAHM, and eight months after she started flying, she was killed in a plane crash.
So now the name seems tragic.
But it's better than either Belladonna or Sheldona.
