[Opinions] Ian or James?

James, but Ian is nice too.
James
Ian is all right but it's an old-boy name here, they're nearly all over 50 or quite a lot older than that.

I like the name James. Though its a very popular name but still the way it feels to the ear is very smooth and calm. Very nice name indeed.

Nice simple name, also my uncles name, so a bit biased.
I do like James a lot.

Ian!!
Here I will say that the name Ian has a special meaning to me. My heart thrills and my knees go a little weak whenever I see it and whenever I hear it.
James did that once, too....but that died fairly quickly.
As a name, I've never liked Ian. I think it whiney and somehow insubstantial. I've always liked James, it's strong, handsome, and classic.
You know what? I started out intending to choose James, but James in the end was a dick and Ian will always make my heart thrill.
It's legitimate to associate a name with a person and like it or dislike it due to the association, no?
So Ian it is!
