I prefer the sound of Mara, but the meaning is horrible, so I will go with Marcella.

MarcellaMarcella can be shortened to Mara so you can get both names in one. It doesn't work the other way around.

Mara! It is softer, sweeter, shorter, simpler...can't think of any other s words, but I like it! Marcella has always seemed a bit snooty and hissy to me.

Mara mI think I lean Mara, because although I love Marcella it becomes Marcy too easily... Marcy is okay, but there is just something about it I don't like, probably based on some trace of a lost memory. Mara is more thoroughly appealing in sound.I'm also partial to Marcia (MAR-see-a or MAR-sya, not MARSHa). Marcellina is as nice as or nicer than Marcella IMO. But, I'd be more likely to name a baby Mara. I'd enthuse about Marka / Marca even more, if it weren't for the familiarity of the phrase Marca Registrada, lol. That would be a funny name combo ...

MaraIt's sweet, and Marcella makes me think of toilet paper because of the Marcal brand. And it just seems too flowery, makes me think of an old lady wearing a loud print dress and too much lipstick and too much perfume.

MarcellaMarcella allows for the nickname Mara, while giving the name some extra flair. It's a fun choice, and not very common.

Hi !!!Mara forever!!!It is simple and with a nice sound. Its meaning is quite sad but this name is always fascinating.Marcella is ugly and very dated.Byeeeeeeeee

Is Marcella considered an "old lady name" in Italy? You don't hear it much in the U.S. so that is interesting!

Hi !!!Yes Marcella in Italy is dated. But isn't a 'granny name' (Antonia or Giuseppina or Angela are more granny than Marcella imo). Marcella is instead a name for an...old aunt in (my mind) so dated but not so elderly.Mara is simply unusual. You can meet a 20s woman named Mara or a woman in her 40s or also a baby. I want that this name will revival in the future because I like it!.I'm glad that people are interested in Iralian names XDByeeeeeeee

Even though I've never known anyone named Marcella, it right away brought the image of an old lady to my mind. I'm not sure why.
