It has been five years. The kids and grandkids threw Grandpa Joe a surprise 70th birthday party this year. Joseph loved it (and loved having everyone in the same place for the first time in several years)!
Bryan and Kelly live in California, where Bryan owns and operates a skate park. Kelly works part-time as a speech therapist and also volunteers at Jason's school.
Violet and Zeke have moved around a lot, based on where Zeke's current plane routes take him. They are currently living near Chicago, Illinois. They have four young kids--with a fifth on the way. Violet loves her new job as a mommy.
Matthew and Ally live the closest to Joseph and Beth--in the next town over, actually. Matthew continues to work as a mechanical engineer for a large firm, while Ally works at a doctor's office in town. They have six kids--three of whom are deaf. After Nora was born deaf, they had genetic testing done and found out that the two of them each carry a recessive gene that, when inherited from both parents, results in congenital profound deafness. They were glad to finally have an answer, but it hasn't stopped them from having more children--or enjoying the ones they have! Dylan is a great sign language teacher and has all the kids in his class at school speaking to him via sign language (he is in a "typical" classroom).
