[Opinions] Jonas & Cyrus
In the past, I have steered clear of the names Jonas and Cyrus because I figured they were so widely associated with the Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus.
What do you think of the names and do you think they are too attached to the celebrity? Do you think they will become reusable any time soon?

The celebrities were not at all what I thought of. I just think of them as classic names. Jonas seems a bit trendy in fact, and Cyrus seems old fashioned.
On the celebrities, they're surnames so that's probably why they don't come to mind wheb I see them as first names. Plus Miley is a girl, so yet another step removed from a boy's first name.

I think both names are usable now and wouldn't worry about what other people thought. Miley on the other hand, is totally linked to Miley Cyrus and that's it!
Well, Cyrus was a long time front runner for my son's name and it is his middle name so I obviously think it is usable. I think the feel of the name itself is very different from the impression Miley Cyrus gives off and that helps it be more usable.
I haven't heard of the Jonas Brothers in years, but the same sentiment applies
Both Cyrus and Jonas have very sturdy serious vibes. Cyrus actually felt too stern and metallic for me to use it as a first name.

I think the are associated with them now, but I think they will be usable in the future. Especially Jonas. I haven't heard about those guys in a while.
I think that right now they might be, as the generation that grew up with them is now having children and associate those names with them. In like 10-20 years, I think that that will change.
I've never heard of the Jonas Brothers but I hate the name Jonas so much. Not sure why, but I do. I doubt it's too much associated with the Jonas Brothers, though. Nor do I think Cyrus is too associated with Miley. I grant that once in a while, in the case of a name that is very unusual or unique, it can be too associated with a celebrity, but let's not carry it to the point that any name borne by a celebrity automatically becomes unusable.
Hi !!!!
I'm from that Generation (because I was boen in 1995)...
I think that Cyrus is not linked with Miley Cyrus...
Infact Cyrus is an ancient masculine name, very classic so I think it is free from prejudices...
Jonas...
It is a beautiful name but...
In my opinion is more tied with that celebrities than Cyrus.
But not too much: I think that only my generation could be influenced by them because the older don't care about it and the younger have got other celebrities.
I dislike Cyrus but because of its sound and style while Jonas is quite pretty but If I give this name here in Italy (where foreign names are not so used) it would be seen as after this boyband because I'm am from that generation so people could think about it.
It is the same case of Violetta (a beautiful Italian name that I loved) but currently it is strongly linked with the Argentinian telenovela (that I can't stand).
So If I have a baby girl right now and I call her Violetta people don't say "ohh beautiful name! It is after the flower or the Opera character?" No! They would think that I'm a fan of that show. It is horrible.

I only knew about the show Violetta through the Nintendo eShop, but I am American so it makes sense why I never heard about it before then!
My nephew is Cyrus so he is my first association with the name. Admittedly when my brother and his girlfriend announced it I did initially think of Miley Cyrus first but now he is six years old and that association has vanished. Only once I have had someone say "like Miley Cyrus?" when talking about his name.
Jonas is a much looser connection for me even though I was as big a fan of the Jonas brothers as I was Miley Cyrus when they were on the Disney Channel as a kid. But I think the name has a much trendier feeling and therefore is more easily separated from the teen popstars than Cyrus is.
I think both names are very usable now. I'm biased on Cyrus but I really like Jonas (Jonah beats it out however and I have that on my list instead), I wouldn't see anything wrong with using them.

I love Jonas, I always have. I've always seen it as the name of an old sea captain and I far prefer it to Jonah. It's just such a solid, established name.
Cyrus is already getting a bit trendy, I've seen it a few places.
Neither are too tied to celebrities.

I do associate both with the Jonas Brothers and Miley, but I really loved the Jonas Brothers, so Jonas has a good association for me. Cyrus...not so much. lol
I really like both names and wouldn't have thought to associate either of them with those celebrities.
