[Opinions] Della
Do you think the name Della is pretty? Would it be something you would consider? Do you think it could make a comeback? I think D female names in general might have a comeback soon (Dorothy, Dorothea, Dinah, Dora, Delia (doesn't pack the same punch as Della), Dahlia), but Della stands out to me.I mean...I think most of us here would rather meet a young Della than a young Bella. Am I right about that? Also, combos.

I have been fond of this name since I was a child and came across the actress Della Reese. I think it's really pretty and I could see it making a comeback, because it fits with that retro vibe that is currently favoured by some parents. Some combos I like are: Della Rose
Della Jane
Della Phoebe
Della Miriam
Della Charlotte
Della Sky
Della Pearl
Della Katherine
Della Joy
Della Juliet
Della Patience
Della Bethany
Della Ruth
Della Maisie

I'm in favor.
I imagine it probably has a blowsy or prissy dated/mediocre vibe for a lot of people, like Donna or Deanna, but I also think it has been unusual enough that that does not matter. And the fashionable -ella helps.
I actually like Bella just fine. But Della is more my style.
The only trouble I have with it, is that it's "of the." So combos tend to sound phrasey.
I don't agree that D names in general might have a comeback soon. Unless by soon, you mean 20 years from now.
Avoiding Latiny names, nouns, and "important" sounding names as the middle, in order to avoid phrasey combos ... and IMO it can't be a middle name because then it really sounds phrasey...
Della Marianne
Della Zoe
Della Ruth
Della Dominique

Della is OK. It's a little different, and pretty, but it's also very plain. It's not something I'd consider using. I think any of the other D names you listed are more interesting and punchier. Della Beatrix
Della Miriam
Della Verity
Della Roselyn

Della has grown on me since I saw someone I went to college with post about her daughter's birth on FB: Josephine Della. I think the "ine D" part is a bit awkward in how the "n" hits the "D." I prefer Della Josephine in sound. Dell is a family name for me, so I kind of like Della as a reference to that. Della Wilhelmina
Della Beatrice / Della Beatrix
Della Thomasine
Della Theodora
Della Seraphine
Della Persephone
Della Sofia
Della Margaret

Yes, it is pretty. I probably wouldn't use it except as a nickname. Yes, I see it coming back on the tails of Ella, Bella, Emma, &c. I would love to meet a young Della!

I don't think that Della is pretty at all. I think that it sounds clunky, dated, and something that you would name a cow.

I actually like Della. I'm surprised it hasn't charted because of the popularity of Bella, Ella, and Stella. I would use it and would be delighted to meet a young one.

I don't think it's pretty, sorry. It sounds like a stuffy Stella, or at least incomplete somehow. The D is harsh with Ella. I agree with queenv about Delia.A lesser used Ella name I do like is Nella.

Nella is pretty, softer than Della, but I do prefer Della. Actually I have always liked Nelia (short for Cornelia).

It's okay, but I like Delia infinitely more. I wouldn't consider using Della myself. But yes, I would rather meet a little Della than a little Bella.
